Jeevan Pramaan Patra, also known as the Digital Life Certificate (DLC), is a transformative initiative by the Government of India that digitizes the process of life certification for pensioners. Traditionally, pensioners needed to be physically present at the pension disbursing agency to submit their annual life certificate—a requirement that posed challenges, especially for elderly and disabled individuals. Jeevan Pramaan eliminates this physical barrier by introducing a biometric-enabled digital alternative.

In this guide, we cover everything pensioners and their families need to know about the Jeevan Pramaan Patra—its purpose, benefits, how to generate it online, and key FAQs.

What is Jeevan Pramaan Patra?

Jeevan Pramaan Patra is a biometric-enabled digital service for pensioners. It allows pensioners to submit their life certificate online, without needing to visit their pension disbursing bank or post office physically.

This certificate serves as proof that the pensioner is alive, ensuring the uninterrupted disbursement of pension. It is particularly beneficial for central government, state government, and PSU pensioners.

The service is accessible via a secure Aadhaar authentication process and integrates with the Digital India initiative. Once generated, the certificate is automatically shared with the Pension Disbursing Agency (PDA) and Pension Sanctioning Authority (PSA).

Importance of Digital Life Certificate for Pensioners

1. Eliminates Physical Visits

Pensioners no longer need to appear in person to submit a life certificate, which is particularly valuable for the elderly, ailing, or those living far from their banks.

2. Ensures Timely Pension

Delays in submitting physical certificates can result in temporary suspension of pension. The digital option ensures seamless and timely submissions.

3. Empowers Rural Pensioners

With over 1.5 lakh post offices and CSCs (Common Service Centers) acting as Jeevan Pramaan enrolment centers, the scheme is accessible across urban and rural India.

4. Real-Time Status Updates

Pensioners receive SMS notifications confirming submission and acceptance of their digital life certificate, adding transparency and reassurance.
